Preprints are the unpublished drafts of research papers. They have not undergone peer-review, nor are they necessarily accepted for publication in a journal.
Preprints have become a critical resource to meet the need to share research data and findings efficiently during this fast moving situation. However, preprints require that the reader apply an especially high level of careful reading and critical appraisal.
While preprints are supposed to be clearly marked as not being peer reviewed, published materials, this is not always the case.
The search interface and algorithm for some of these preprint sites are sometimes underdeveloped. One option that will return more "noise" but also sometimes more complete results is to also search Google using your search terms followed by "site: site.domain"
E.g.: Diabetes Covid-19 site: medRxiv.org
