Patient Education

According to the Gale Encyclopedia of Nursing and Allied Health (2022), patient education involves helping patients become better informed about:

their condition,

medical procedures, and

choices they have regarding treatment.

Nurses typically have opportunities to educate patients during:

hospital bedside conversations,

doctor office visits,

or by providing prepared pamphlets or handouts.
