We’re seeking a Head of Electronic Resources & Collection Development to join our team and support students, faculty, and staff in advancing teaching, learning, and research. Reporting to the Director of Library Services, you’ll lead the team responsible for acquiring, managing and maintaining both physical and digital library resources. Job Description


Reports To: Director of Library Services

Location: Las Vegas, NV (Summerlin Campus)

Job Summary

The Head of Electronic Resources & Collection Development provides leadership for the library’s technical services which include electronic resource management, cataloging, interlibrary loan, and acquisitions. This position is critical to providing access to materials that support the curriculum and research needs of Roseman University.

Essential Functions:

  • Hire, train, and supervise the library’s technical services staff who troubleshoot electronic resource access issues, maintain holdings and catalog records, process library purchases, and provide interlibrary loan services
  • Manage and maintain access to electronic resources and online tools, including preliminary research, acquisition, implementation, and assessment; provide associated training as requested
  • Facilitate review and negotiation of subscription agreements and licenses; uphold licensing rights and obligations; serve as the contact person for relevant vendors
  • Provide recommendations and feedback on library resources subscribed to in support of the academic programs; evaluate existing collections for collection development decisions
  • Oversee updates and communicate with library staff and university community members about changes to the library collection
  • Maintain knowledge of academic health science librarianship and related fields through reading professional literature and attending funded professional development activities
  • Assist with service desk coverage as needed; which may include occasional evening hours and remote weekend hours on a rotating basis with other librarians
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of the job
  • Reliable and timely with the expectation of 40 hours per week
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Master’s in Library Science (MLS) or equivalent from an American Library Association (ALA)-accredited program
  • Experience with acquisitions and budget management
  • Experience working with library electronic resources throughout their lifecycle, or any combination of education, experience and training 
  • Management experience preferred
