Patient Education
According to the Gale Encyclopedia of Nursing and Allied Health (2022), patient education involves helping patients become better informed about:
- their condition,
- medical procedures, and
- choices they have regarding treatment.
Nurses typically have opportunities to educate patients during:
- hospital bedside conversations,
- doctor office visits,
- or by providing prepared pamphlets or handouts.
