About Advanced Search

There are a few reasons you should consider PubMed's Advanced Search feature.

1) Advanced Search allows you to do a more precise search to find a smaller number of results with a high relevance

2) Advanced Search allows you to do a more sensitive search to find a larger number of results with more comprehensive coverage of the topic

3) Advanced Search also allows you to build searches slowly with lots of control. You can select fields to search terms in, preview the number of results, make incremental changes, and add a search to your history to mark how your strategies have developed.

Talk to a librarian to help you determine a research question and brainstorm search terms and strategies.
